You chose to clear an old field of secondary forest. By leaving this field fallow for a few years, you've allowed vegetation to grow back. Now, slashing and burning this field will release the nutrients from this vegetation into the soil.. You can continue this cycle for years, but eventually you must let this field lay fallow for a decade or two. At that time, you may have to clear some primary forest for your crops.
