Making a Living
You chose
to replant on the same field that you used this year. In some places in
the Amazon, you can use the same field for several years. But here in the
Ecuadorian Amazon, your crops won't produce very well after the first year.
It's best
to rotate your crops every year. By letting
a field lay fallow for a while, you allow new
vegetation to grow there. When you to return to clear this field, this vegetation
will give valuable nutrients to the soil.
